Family Discipleship Magazine

We are a home schooling family with five children, carrying out, together, the shared purpose of encouraging like-minded families. (Some of you might know us from The Teaching Home magazine, for which Joy Marie has been a regular writer for the past ten years.) Our focus is on living by the Bible, growing in our love for one another in practical ways, home schooling, child training, simple living, nature and crafts. We want to share with you our ideas, experiences, trials and joys in these areas and more. If your children are still small, this magazine is for you as well. We have not forgotten those precious but hard early years and have ideas and insights to share for families with small children too.

We are well aware of the battle raging in this generation against those families who feel convicted to live in ways that are not in keeping with the culture at large. This may mean having a large family as you accept all the "blessings God sends." It may mean Mom staying home with the kids. It may mean home schooling, being wise in choosing good influences, avoiding bad influences and lessening the hold of peer dominance in your children's lives. It may mean drastically limiting TV viewing, and finding better, less traumatic, more informative sources of news. It may mean preferring more old-fashioned kinds of recreation over violent, hyper, disrespectful, or ungodly electronic entertainment, such as video games. It may mean getting to know God's Word well, and applying it widely to all areas of life, in spite of the culture.

We want to encourage Christian families who have made (or are considering making) lifestyle choices like these that don't fit the culture, because they want to live by God's Word out of love for Him. We want to share encouragement and also ideas with you on raising and discipling your children in Christ, home schooling, useful skills and crafts, (for kids and adults), and enjoyable and constructive ways to spend time together as a family. We also want to share our love for the Bible with your family through a children's page, Bible verses in code, Bible focused articles for grown-ups, and effective Scripture memorization methods for parents to use with their children.
